I am a licensed as a clinical social worker and professional counselor specializing in mindfulness-based individual, couples and family therapy. I currently maintain a private practice in Portland Oregon. Prior to my work in private practice I had twenty years of clinical and management level experience in community mental health and social services.
I am a practical, interactive, solution-focused therapist. My treatment approach is to provide support, deep exploration and practical feedback to help clients resolve current problems and long-standing patterns. I incorporate a blend of conventional western and alternative approaches, drawing upon a variety of styles and techniques to provide what will be most helpful for each client. With sensitivity and compassion, I work with each client to help them build on their strengths to identify and achieve life goals.
I have extensive training in a variety of ways to do therapy. Some of the approaches I use include: acceptance and commitment therapy, scientifically-based marriage therapy (Gottman), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), narative therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, family systems therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based body centered therapy, and mindfulness meditation. I have taught mindfulness meditation for over fifteen years and have completed training with John Kabat-Zinn.
